Introduction

My name is Kendra Baker and I'm a 19-year-old sophomore at Western Connecticut State University. As a Professional Writing: Journalism & Freelance major, this Editing & Copyediting course is one of the requirements I need to fulfill. However, the fact that this course is a requirement is not the only reason why I've decided to register for it.

From 2007 to 2009 I was a member of Danbury High School's award-winning newspaper Hatter's Herald, and was elected to be the Clubs Editor for my last year on the newspaper staff. I learned quite a bit about what it means to be an editor during that year that I was Clubs Editor, and because of the enjoyable experience I had during that time, I was happy to see that there was a spring semester course available for editing and copyediting.
